took home a 

4th in Great Dane Post Graduate 

and 

2nd in A.V Minor Puppy

It was a long day for all as the show took longer than expected. Cash got a tad hyper and Robert stepped into the breach to handle him but very proud all the same of his achievements.

Ok here goes

I personally do a lot of things before I let anyone in the door. Ask my owners.  I have a questionnaire I do and its long and might be added to or lessened maybe not sure on that one. No one has refused to fill it in either and yes I have been told its American.

I also do an open day to come and meet the pooches before pups are there so they can meet mum and dad if he is here most likely he isn't as we out source our dogs (males). Pictures are available though of him and a lot of information on his background including temperament.

Now the reason behind the open day is to see how big our Danes get and some do and only one guy said oh I didn't realise and he ended up with a lab and was very happy after I directed him to someone else. Also for their temperament and interaction to others.

I ask for newbies to do some research as well on the breed. I also do tell folks the biggest killer for Danes is bloat and DCM. I don't sugarcoat it. There are others I list as well and I have to say as far as bloat none for mine but never say never.

DCM only one had that and he was an old man and it does come with age too.

I am now in the process of going through Liverpool Vet School to have my over 4's tested for this disease. This will be my own peace of mind and to help the research that has been on going.

My home isn't the cleanest it is lived in I do have children and dogs after all. I will say this it doesn't smell though unless it dinner time hahaha!!!!

Now back too the pooches when I do have a litter we lock the house down for 4 weeks and then one person can come visit or we stagger it so mum isn't overwhelmed as these are her babies after all.

Now code of practise is pet mum first and then ask her to pet the baby of choice. If mum has been removed because she is a bit upset she will be brought in away from babies for a meet and greet as I always let new owners see mum.

She the mummy dog likes treats and I always get children to do a side on pet to them. If a young one gentle hands from them and a rub under her chin. Or we get the kids to ignore till mum comes to them. It depends on the person at the time but I am not to bad at reading the situation.

Please do not think she is starved by the way she is meant to be thin not overly thin but she is feeding round the clock for the first 3-4 weeks. She is being fed double sometime triple her usual amounts of food. Usually at the 4 week mark mum has put on some weight but folks do think ooh she's thin.

Please also remember some puppies might have fleas or mites these are treatable also they may have nappy rash (there is a term for it but easier calling it this) they wee and it splashes them again treatable and nothing to worry over.

Puppies are born with worms and worming is done by me at 2,5 and 8 weeks and then monthly after that by the new owners.

I am available at any time.  I take my dogs back its even written in my contracts. Yes, I do contracts and a huge puppy booklet for all. This is personal to me of course.

 Kids things cos this family had 3 kids in it and,

one was getting to show her dog too.

Oh and the green thing is a wash mitt very handy for a Great Dane.
