Staph infections

These are so easy to happen more so in puppies so they do need watching and supervising for when they bump themselves or bite and gnaw at their skin.

this is why when doing your grooming weekly, check for wounds and grazes as routine.

Now if you think your puppy or even older dog has a staph infection take them to the vets pronto as if you delay you can cause septis and that's life threatening, if its caught quickly and I know you'll whip your pup right away all will be well.

A board spectrum off antibiotics  will be given and don't panic if the wound weeps this is completely normal and is meant to happen. Do not cover the wound at all allow this weeping, put down pads or towels for the mess.

cones and buster collars help here too so they can't get at the wounds as it can be itchy for them and you can wipe the wound also with a clean piece of cloth or even a baby wipe to help with the itches.

here are some symptoms of staph infections;

Pain, itching, or inflammation of the skin

Abscesses

Hair loss

A rash

Pus around the wound

loss of appetite

fever

secondary infections of the eyes, ears or throat

if in doubt go to the vets immediately.
